# Console UI overview

> Find your way around the toolbars, panels, and command palette of the Console.

The Synnax Console is where you set up hardware, see your data, and control your system. It has a bar on the left, a bar at the top, and the mosaic in the middle. Start the tour below to walk through each part in order, or select any part to jump to it.

## Mosaic

The mosaic shows your line plots, schematics, tables, logs, and Arc editors in tabs. To split the mosaic, drag a tab to an edge of another tab.

## Schematic

A [schematic](https://docs.synnaxlabs.com/reference/visualize/schematics) shows your system and its live values. Its valves and buttons send commands.

## Line plot

A [line plot](https://docs.synnaxlabs.com/reference/visualize/line-plots) plots channels over time, live as the data arrives.

## Arc editor

The [Arc editor](https://docs.synnaxlabs.com/reference/control/arc) shows the code of an Arc automation. The controls at its bottom start and stop it.

## Project selector

The project selector at the top of the left bar shows the open [project](https://docs.synnaxlabs.com/reference/visualize/projects). Select it to open another project.

## Search and command palette

The search and command palette finds resources, such as channels and ranges, and runs commands.

Press **Ctrl+P** (**Cmd+P** on macOS) to search for resources, or **Ctrl+Shift+P** (**Cmd+Shift+P** on macOS) to search for commands.

## Toolbars

Select a toolbar icon in the left bar, or press its key, to open the toolbar.

Enterprise

The [users toolbar](https://docs.synnaxlabs.com/reference/enterprise/users) (**U**) lets you view the users in your Synnax deployment and change their roles. Synnax Desktop does not show it.

## ChannelsC

The [channels toolbar](https://docs.synnaxlabs.com/reference/channels#channels-in-the-console) lets you create, view, and open the channels you want to visualize.

## RangesR

The [ranges toolbar](https://docs.synnaxlabs.com/reference/ranges/find) shows the ranges that you added to your favorites. You can also create ranges and open the range explorer from it.

The [projects toolbar](https://docs.synnaxlabs.com/reference/visualize/projects) lets you create, open, and export projects.

## DevicesD

The [devices toolbar](https://docs.synnaxlabs.com/reference/hardware) shows the devices that Synnax is connected to. You can also connect devices from it.

## TasksT

The [tasks toolbar](https://docs.synnaxlabs.com/reference/hardware/tasks) lets you create, configure, start, and stop tasks.

## ArcsA

The [Arcs toolbar](https://docs.synnaxlabs.com/reference/control/arc) lets you create, start, and stop Arc automations.

## StatusesS

The [statuses toolbar](https://docs.synnaxlabs.com/reference/alarms) shows the statuses that you added to your favorites. You can also create statuses and open the status explorer from it.

## Component toolbarV

The component toolbar edits the properties of the selected [line plot](https://docs.synnaxlabs.com/reference/visualize/line-plots), [log](https://docs.synnaxlabs.com/reference/visualize/logs), [schematic](https://docs.synnaxlabs.com/reference/visualize/schematics), or [table](https://docs.synnaxlabs.com/reference/visualize/tables).

## Panel selector

The panel selector on the left of the top bar shows the panels of the project. A panel is one arrangement of tabs. To add and arrange panels, see [Arrange panels and tabs](https://docs.synnaxlabs.com/reference/visualize/panels).

## Help and updates

The icon on the right of the top bar opens the Synnax documentation. When a new version is ready, the top bar shows **Update available**.
