Connect the Console

Install the Synnax Console app, add a Synnax Core to it, and log in.

The Synnax Console app runs on Windows and macOS and keeps a list of the Synnax Cores you connect to. Each Core also serves the Console to a web browser. For the hardware the Console needs, see Console hardware.

Install the Console app

Download the latest release for your operating system:

Earlier versions are on the Synnax releases page.

Add a Core

The Cores list starts with two Cores: Local, a Core on this computer at localhost:9090, and Demo. If your Core runs on this computer on port 9090, skip to log in.

  1. In the Cores list, click Add a Core.
  2. Enter a name for the Core.
  3. Enter the Host and the Port of the Core. The default port is 9090.
  4. If the Core uses TLS, turn on Secure. For a Core with a self-signed certificate, first install its certificate on this computer.
  5. Click Connect.

The Core shows in the list. Connected means the Core answered. Unreachable means it did not answer or has no active license. To see the reason, hover over the status.

To change a Core, right-click it in the list and select Edit, Rename, Refresh connection, or Remove.

  1. In the Cores list, click the Core.
  2. Enter your Username and Password.
  3. Click Log in.

The root user of a new Core is synnax with the password seldon, unless the Core started with other --username and --password values. Other users get their credentials from the person who registered them.

After you log in, the Console shows your projects. For a Core without a license, it shows an activation screen instead. See activate from the Console.

The Console opens on the login form of the last Core you used. To select a different Core, click at the top left.

Use the Console in a browser

  1. In a web browser, go to the address of the Core, for example http://synnax.example.com:9090. For a Core with TLS, use https://.
  2. Enter your Username and Password, then click Log in.

The browser Console connects to the Core that serves it. For a Core with a self-signed certificate, the browser warns about the certificate until you install the certificate on your computer.
